Del Mar is one of the most beautiful, romantic resort beach towns in the world, and this living guide provides lots of information: hotels, romantic getaways, vacations, beach and race season rentals, world class restaurants, activities, including the exciting Del Mar Racetrack and San Diego County Fair, as well as beach & ocean water sports, and the nearby San Diego, La Jolla and North County attractions.

This site is a collection of facts about this scenic beach community: the people, the history, the shopping and restaurants, and the many recreational activities available to a visitor. But it will be different than the travelogues or commercial sites.

My goal is to inform and educate about Del Mar, in a humorous way, with anecdotes and personal experiences from this lifelong lover of the beach 'of the sea'.

Del Mar has a colorful history filled with excitement, pleasure and even has a song recorded by Bing Crosby (click on The Racetrack tab for the link to hear it!) Bing, Pat O'Brien and their friends, such as Jimmy Durante, turned the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club into one of the most beautiful and prestigious organizations in the entire racing world.

Even Brad Pitt is rumored to have moved here recently, buying an $18 million dollar beachfront home, and 'Brad Pitt Sightings' are the new sport in town.

Del Mar - Where the turf meets the surf

Del Mar is two square miles along the Northern San Diego County coast, best known for its beaches, fairgrounds and the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club "Where the turf meets the surf." With beautiful sandstone canyons interspersed with hillsides of custom homes, and astonishing sunsets, the romatic village of Del Mar is a global destination point for visitors, vacationers and residents alike.

There is another lodging alternative to the conventional beach rentals and hotels when visiting Del Mar. It's a timeshare. You can enjoy the best areas in and around Del Mar, La Jolla and San Diego by getting a guaranteed week (or more) of holiday time. Whether you are interested in buying a timeshare - new or resale, renting a timeshare ( as many racetrack fans prefer) or selling or renting one you own, this site is one of the best I've seen. Timeshares can also be traded or credited for lodging anywhere in the world.
